Part Used: Root. Spikenard is an old Native American remedy that is undervalued in our time. Appears to have adaptogenic properties similar to Ginseng; boosts immune system. Chronic debility. Warming and relieves irritation of lungs: mucousy cough, acute and chronic bronchitis, whooping cough, humid asthma, pleurisy. Hypersensitive lung conditions (i.e. with allergies). Chronic lung conditions in general with low immunity. Skin conditions. Rheumatism. Taken in last trimester as a labor preparator for easy delivery. Delayed menstruation.
