American Ginseng
Panax Quinquefolium
Part Used: Root. American Ginseng is less stimulating than it's Asian cousins, and is often better tolerated for longer periods by those who need less stimulation. Used for nervous exhaustion, weakness, depression, recovery from illness, exhausted adrenal glands. Builds immune system reserves and helps the body in dealing with stress. Radiation exposure. Weak lungs with unpoductive cough.. Poor appetite, chronic indigestion. Poor assimilation, malnutrition. Improve cerebral circulation, improve memory. A good tonic for the elderly. Some women benefit from its hormonal effects in hot flashes and other menopausal problems.
