Vitex Agnus castus
Part Used: Berry. Chaste Berry (also referred to as Vitex) is used as a regulator of the sex hormones via the pituitary gland, balancing levels of progesterone, estrogen, prolactin and other hormones.Low progesterone and too high prolactin levels. It is especially valuable in long-term imbalances, and in these cases should be used over a period of months at least. Long-term irregular menstrual cycle: too early, late, intermittent, painful, PMS symptoms, menopausal symptoms following long-term hormonal imbalances. Used to control excessive sexual desire, and increase where desire is too low. The pungent berries were long used to promote appetite and digestion and stimulate the liver.
