Ask the Herbalist

Dear Bob Liebert,

I have been taking Glucosamine & Chondroitin for a year. Knees getting better but there is a crunching noise in my shoulder, when lifting my shoulder. The same shoulder had lock on and would not allow me to reach all the way up before taking Glucosamine & Chondroitin. My doctor states bursitis, arthritis, etc. all in my shoulder and herniated disk in my mid-back area. But, I beleive the crunching in my shoulder is calcium deposits because I do eat a lot of greens, omega3, vitamin E (400 mg), 2,000 mg vitamin C and brewers yeast every day (took bone loss test, OST and was above average), so there is no bone lost. Is there something else I can add to my diet, that might help, if it is calcium spurs?

Dear Friend,

I might think of bursitis; the fluid-filled sacs that cushion the joint. You might try PLEURISY ROOT extract as an aid to re-lubricating the bursa. The GRAVEL ROOT extract can aid the kidneys in filtering excess calcium out of the system. These would be a good start.

Yours in healing,
Bob Liebert, herbalist
