Dear Bob Liebert,
This is about Goldenrod. According to whatever I have read about it,
it seems to a wonderful medicine for the kidneys-it helps in cases of
micro albumunaria, in cases of nephritic syndrome etc. There seems to
be a contradiction though-if the medicine is really so good why is there
a footnote about not giving it to people with chronic kidney problems?
Can this be given to people with kidney diseases arising due to hypertension
and diabetes? Awaiting your answer.
Thanks in advance.
Gauari
Dear Friend,
I have not seen it cause any problems in chronic kidney conditions.
I believe it is the typical medical warning given for any herb seen
as being diuretic in its action; though the herbs work differently.
Its energy is thought of as "cool and dry", and a "cold"
person might want to add a little of a warming herb, and some cases
of inflammation may want to add a demulcent herb like Marshmallow
Root. We have a very good fresh-herb Goldenrod
extract.
Yours in healing,
Bob Liebert, herbalist
