Ask the Herbalist

Dear Bob Liebert,

Hi. I am a teacher with chronic (and somewhat uncomfortable) strain in my vocal cords. I am practicing breathing techniques, but is there an herb that would help them heal? If not, PLEASE tell me--I have spent a lot of money on this condition already! Thank you so much.

Rhona

Dear Friend,

An herb with a long traditional use for irritation of the vocal cords is STONE ROOT extract taken internally. The soothing and healing effects of powdered Slippery Elm (a teaspoon in a little water) and/or Marshmallow Root tea are very good taken in conjunction.

Yours in healing,
Bob Liebert, herbalist
