Ask the Herbalist

Dear Bob Liebert,

a friend has a condition named pemphigus and has sores in her mouth. is Goldenseal going to be helpful for to use the liquid form to swish in her mouth?

Dear Friend,

Pemphigus with blister-like sores can indicate a bacterial infection, but in general a run-down system and the need for purifying the blood-stream and intestinal tract. I would suggest the liquid extracts of ECHINACEA and YELLOW DOCK internally to target the cause. These could be used as well, a little diluted, as a mouth rinse. The Golden Seal can be added if acute bacterial infection is apparent, but I believe the two above extracts would aid very well.

Yours in healing,
Bob Liebert, herbalist
