Dear Bob Liebert,
Where do I start??? Diagnosed 15 years ago with hypothyroidism
and my life has not been the same!! I suffer from all those symptoms
plus a hysterectomy with total BSA in 1997. Muscle aches and pains,
persistent edema in lower extremeties and hands. None of the medicine
I am on is doing any good-Thyrolar 2, Spironolactone 100mg a day, and
Cenestin. I am a Registered Nurse and on my feet a lot. I also have
a fungal infection under my toenails. I want to know how to wean
myself off these drugs and find a Natural way that will help!! I
am beginning massage therapy this month. Any suggestions-please help
Wanda
Dear Friend,
Are you supposed to wean yourself off of the Thyrolar? The question
is if there is any thyroid function left to stimulate; but the herbs
can nutritionally feed and enhance thyroid function. L:et me know also,
what the other medications are for. let me know, and I can better be
able to answer your question.

Dear Bob,
Thank you so much for your response! How would I
know if there were any Thyroid function left, short of very expensive
tests? I feel better on Thyrolar than any of the other Thyroid drugs
but I still have symptoms, hair falling out, fatigue, edema. I would
like to take something more natural. I tried Armour to no evail. Probably
will not be able to wean this drug. But I would like to try. The others,
Spironolactone 100mg each day is for the 3+ pitting edema in my legs.
I guess it would be worse if I didn't take it. Several factors involved
in this fluid retention. I have been on my feet A LOT for the past 25
years, I'm over weight and question some valve damage and not sure about peripheral
vascular disease? Anyway this is the drug I am most interested is weaning
myself off of and using something else. I do not drink water like I
should and I know that would help. The other drug I would like to wean
off of is Cenestin which is the estrogen pill I have taken since my
hysterectomy. I am bothered with hot flashes but surely there is an
herb that will help with that. I tried Black Cohosh years ago and my
Alternative doctor took me off it and put me on Cenestin. Are there
other herbs I can try beside Black Cohosh? Thank you for your help.
Wanda
Dear Friend,
You may wish to try our DIETAID
Formula, which has herbs that aid the Thyroid. I would take them both
and see how you feel; watch for any hyper- symptoms, but perhaps you
will be able to lower amount of the med. needed, and maybe lose weight
as well! I would suggest the DANDELION
LEAF extract for the edema (can be taken with the DIETAID).
The MACA extract works well for menopausal
women with low thyroid function (this can be taken with as well).
I think you will find some good results with these.

You can buy these herbs and many more in the Formula and Single
Herb sections of the Teeter Creek Herb website. Herbs that don't appear
in the Formula or Single Herb lists can usually be requested in the "Message"
section at the bottom of the order page.
