Ask the Herbalist

Dear Bob Liebert,

I am 41 years old and trying to conceive, am slightly hypothyroid and have a luteal phase defect. Doctor has me on Clomid but it causes vaginal dryness (no egg-white quality cervical mucus and very little cervical mucus of any noticeable amount). What is the best herbal mix I could take either with the Clomid or instead of it? How long does it take for herbs to take effect if I were to begin using them?

Sheila

Dear Friend,

I would suggest the extracts of Maca (hormonal imbalance with hypothyroid), and the MNPS Formula (hormonal balancers, uterine tonics, vaginal dryness). The herbs should be taken over several months if necessary; but improvement in symptoms should be seen within a couple of months (positive effects may be seen much sooner). Good luck!

Yours in healing,
Bob Liebert, herbalist
