Ask the Herbalist

Dear Bob Liebert,

What can be taken as a natural replacement for Detrol and Flomax, taken for overactive bladder? They have side effects such as dry eyes and mouth, and several other things, not to mention they stopped working effectively after taking them for a few months. I would like to go "natural" if at all possible. I am a 49 year old male. Thank You!!

Thank you!
Buddy

Dear Friend,

Different herbs may be used according to the condition; for general purposes urinary tract "sedatives" and anti-spasmodics are used: I believe the best are Gravel Root, Eryngium, Mullein Root and Kava. Loss of tone calls for urinary tract astringents like Sumach Root, Horsetail, Alum Root. If there is irritation soothers such as Corn Silk and Cleavers may be called for. (These herbs may be ordered off of our site, for very effective extracts; just the Gravel root and Eryngium may be all you need.

Thanks,
Bob

You can buy these herbs and many more in the Formula and Single Herb sections of the Teeter Creek Herb website. Herbs that don't appear in the Formula or Single Herb lists can usually be requested in the "Message" section at the bottom of the order page.
