Dear Bob Liebert,

Is there an herb that can either prevent you from having your menstrual cycle or make it come early? I have been planning a trip to ireland and I do not want to be having my period. Any suggestions?

Dear Friend,

I have gotten this type of question several times. Herbs do not work in that way; they are supposed to balance body functions; not prevent them (like the Pill, with all its side-effects). An herb like Pennyroyal may bring things on a little earlier; or Shepherd's Purse or Yarrow lighten things up and maybe cut it a little short; otherwise (with my wife's input...) be thankful your body functions normally.
