Ask the Herbalist

Dear Bob Liebert,

I would appreciate any advice on Polycystic kidney and liver disease. Both run in my family, and I recently found out that I have 2 cysts, one on each kidney, and several on my liver. I am 52. Is there any products which would discourage new cysts from forming, and help the body to rid itself of cysts? Would following a vegatarian diet be helpful? Much thanks for your time.

Sincerely,
Paula

Dear Friend,

Herbs that are specific to the organs involved, combined with lymph-draining herbs that aid the body in reducing toxins would be my suggestion: A good program would be the extracts of Dandelion Root (liver), Yellow Dock (liver and lymph), and Cleavers (kidneys, lymph). There are other herbs that can aid if kidney function is impaired (Goldenrod, Corn Silk, etc.) Small doses of Thuja are the traditional herb for prevention and treatment of many types of cysts, and should be added to the other herbs. I highly recommend our extracts!

Thanks,
Bob

You can buy these herbs and many more in the Formula and Single Herb sections of the Teeter Creek Herb website. Herbs that don't appear in the Formula or Single Herb lists can usually be requested in the "Message" section at the bottom of the order page.
