Ask the Herbalist

Dear Bob Liebert,

I have just quit smoking as of today. I want to cleanse my body of nicotine. My friend gave me a bottle of powdered barleygreen. She told me this would clean all toxins from my body. She told me to fast from foods and drink plenty of water for a fast cleansing. She did not tell me how to use and how this works. Can you please advise? If this work, how long does it normally take to rid the body of all traces of nicotine?

Basnir

Dear Friend,

I believe the barley green would be an aid along with short fasts and plenty of water. Blood-purifying herbs would be a good addition: Red Clover, Burdock, Yellow Dock, etc. (see Blood-Pure Formula). Small doses of Lobelia extract have been used to control cravings. Watercress (esp. fresh liquid extract or fresh herb added to diet) is a powerful anti-oxidant that has been shown to be particularly protective of lung tissue from irritants and toxins.

Thanks,
Bob
